Chilmari Upazila
During the British rule, kite infestation became uncommon in this region. People became enraged at the oppression of the kite. When the news reached the British troops, they declared war on the kite with guns. The people also started coming in groups to enjoy the battle with joy, and the only sound in their mouths was "Cholo Chil Mari". It is believed that the area was named Chilmari after this incident.
